A lifetime of practical and hobby woodworking.
A lifetime of woodworking–sometimes a hobby!
I have been both blessed and cursed by do-it-yourself (DIY) genetics! My parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts were all DIY folks out of necessity, desire or both. Not only the typical minor remodeling of rooms and additions, but many of them had built or participated in building their homes. That’s a whole lot of learning opportunity for a kid who liked to help.
My beginning instruction in woodworking happened to include a couple of semesters in junior high and high school; however, most of my first lessons were with my father, my maternal grandfather–who had introduced my father to the craft–or some paternal-side uncles. These first-person learning opportunities led me to a lifetime interest, and occasionally, even an intense hobby!
